What would you do if you weren’t afraid?


When I first encountered this question, it was from a book my aunt gave me as a graduation gift. I brought it with me the very first time I moved to a different city because I figured it would help me. The book is called “Who Moved My Cheese?” It was a sort of children’s story that you, as an adult could learn a lot from.

The question bothered me so much, because I can never seem to figure it out on my own. Usually, I would require third-party assistance in the form of “life advice” or just a plain nudge towards the right direction: the direction that would lead me to answers rather than more questions.

What would I do if I weren’t afraid? Honestly, I have no answer. I can’t even begin to imagine how infinite my choices would be if I was, in fact, fearless. I have excuses for every little thing that could even become a slight possibility. Maybe I’m just being an ass to myself, or maybe, I’m not doing much of a job to self-motivate.

Sometimes however, you have these moments of epiphany, where you realize that the outcomes of your actions are better than how you usually expect them to be. That the means to these “ends” weren’t exactly daunting, all you need to do is take the first step.

Like, why is it really so hard to apply for a job you know you will love and grow in? Why do we fear going up the stage and being in front of a bunch of people even if we know deep inside that we have talent? Why would we not step foot to a place we have never been in, or eat food we have never tasted or even trust people we have never known? Why won’t we allow ourselves to fall for the wrong guy?


Fear is in our every being. They are those little devils on your shoulder that whisper in your ear to step back when you’re too high up, maybe literally, sometimes figuratively. But is it so bad to be on top? Is it so bad to be so high up on everything that you could see yourself in every possibility? So high up that you can see what you’ve become just because you chose to make the first step. You’re in that certain place where you realize that getting there wasn’t exactly so hard if only you stopped talking yourself down from the beginning of your journey.

Maybe the company will hire you because they see potential in you. Maybe the people will love you because you decided to share your talent. Maybe you’ll fall in love with a place, discover your favorite food, turn strangers into best friends, maybe he may not be the wrong guy after all.

I know these “maybe’s” are not certain, but so are the other hesitations you have that scare you into not doing what you want to do. Obviously, I’m not saying that you should just do these things to call yourself fearless. I simply meant the things you’ve always really wanted to do, but prevented yourself because of reasons you can’t even remember.

Of course there will always be risks, but the positive outcomes usually make you believe that the risks were worth it. If you think you can’t do it on your own, do it with someone who is just as scared. You’ll realize towards the end that you are both pushing yourself to do it, and at the same time gathering the courage from each other.

The best kinds of fears are the ones that you conquered. Some of these take a while, some, you would need a support group or person for. But definitely overcoming your fears slowly will make you realize how tiny your worries were in the first place. It will make you a happier person in general, and that kind of happiness extends to other people as well.

I’m going to start making a list, and I’ll slowly be crossing off things in this list. Maybe you should too…

Fearless Fridays: I should never have done this.

I think it’s time, to finally write down that bucket list, and slowly cross out stuff in this list.

This is scary, but I’m supposed to be fearless, so here goes.

  1. Be 30-feet up in the air. (and I don’t mean on a plane)
  2. Be able to be alone.
  3. Spend a whole day without worrying about anything at all.
  4. Sing in front of a huge crowd of strangers.
  5. Approach new people you don’t know, but you think are worth knowing.

Don’t judge me. I know you’d think five things are a piece of cake, but considering how these five things mean to me, this list is one of the hardest challenges I’ve ever given myself.

I’d explain further on each number by the next Fridays to come.

Days of the Week!

I haven’t exactly figured out how I want this sort of blog to end up, so I decided, I’m gonna try EVERYTHING!

Quite ambitious, I know. But I figured, since I’m going to be blogging daily for this month, why not just make a theme out of every single day? I’m a fan of dailygrace, and I used to be a jock in a local radio station before, so I’ve kinda gotten the idea to do a daily “thing.”

Grace Helbig has Wednesday Reviews, Thursday How-to’s, Sexy Fridays; and our station had Thursday Night Talkbacks, Backstab Mondays, and all those sorts of shenanigans.

Since this is a blog, and it wouldn’t be live, or interactive, I just decided to theme out my content for five days a week, and weekends are an anything-goes sort of thing.



Okay. So starting off the week with Monday. Mondays are going to be REVIEW DAYS. The Hit List is going to be a list of things I am currently in love with. Movies, books, music, celebrities, etc. Brace yourselves, Mondays are going to be all about mainstream pop culture. But knowing me, there’s bound to be a lot of indies in there.


If you know me personally, you’d know that the only thing I’ve actually perfected in the kitchen is a tuna spaghetti. That’s about the only decent meal I could make. In a family where, everyone knows how to cook, it’s bound to get crowded in the kitchen on parties or celebrations, so I tend to be the family member that just EATS. I’m challenging myself to wear that apron every Tuesday, and make a mess in the kitchen. (I promise to clean it afterwards, grandma!)


Do not, I repeat, DO NOT laugh at me. I know this is a bit out of my league, but hey, I am a girl! No matter what all my guy friends say, I have boobs (not really), I have long (unbrushed) hair, and I have that monthly proof that my body is carrying an XX chromosome. Okay, just allow me to do this. Wednesdays will be all about fashion and beauty. Hair and face products that I like, make-up tips (I promise, I know how to do make-up) and how to style hair. Also, it could be OOTD days, although I never really do that, it’s at least an excuse to dress up nicely once a week right?


Those TBT posts on instagram and facebook probably has an awesome story that goes with it, aye? Every Thursday, I’m going to write a Throwback complete with photos/videos of whatever it is. The only rule, it has to be an experience that happened not after the year 2010. I mean come on, if I posted something  from last year, how could that be a “throwback?”


I got the idea from iamrihanna from wordpress who wrote about Fearless Fridays. The idea was, to begin with a “bucket list” of things you’re afraid of doing, or never imagined yourself doing, and cross it all out. I decided to write out this sort of list and present it on the first Friday of November (technically it’s the second, but for the sake of my posts, let’s call it the first.) In the succeeding Fridays, I will then try and do anything from that list, and well, write about it!

See? I’m a fashion blogger, food blogger, and reviewer all in one!

It’s Monday tomorrow! I can’t wait to begin!
