What would you do if you weren’t afraid?

When I first encountered this question, it was from a book my aunt gave me as a graduation gift. I brought it with me the very first time I moved to a different city because I figured it would help me. The book is called “Who Moved My Cheese?” It was a sort of children’s story that you, as an adult could learn a lot from.

The question bothered me so much, because I can never seem to figure it out on my own. Usually, I would require third-party assistance in the form of “life advice” or just a plain nudge towards the right direction: the direction that would lead me to answers rather than more questions.

What would I do if I weren’t afraid? Honestly, I have no answer. I can’t even begin to imagine how infinite my choices would be if I was, in fact, fearless. I have excuses for every little thing that could even become a slight possibility. Maybe I’m just being an ass to myself, or maybe, I’m not doing much of a job to self-motivate.

Sometimes however, you have these moments of epiphany, where you realize that the outcomes of your actions are better than how you usually expect them to be. That the means to these “ends” weren’t exactly daunting, all you need to do is take the first step.

Like, why is it really so hard to apply for a job you know you will love and grow in? Why do we fear going up the stage and being in front of a bunch of people even if we know deep inside that we have talent? Why would we not step foot to a place we have never been in, or eat food we have never tasted or even trust people we have never known? Why won’t we allow ourselves to fall for the wrong guy?

Fear is in our every being. They are those little devils on your shoulder that whisper in your ear to step back when you’re too high up, maybe literally, sometimes figuratively. But is it so bad to be on top? Is it so bad to be so high up on everything that you could see yourself in every possibility? So high up that you can see what you’ve become just because you chose to make the first step. You’re in that certain place where you realize that getting there wasn’t exactly so hard if only you stopped talking yourself down from the beginning of your journey.

Maybe the company will hire you because they see potential in you. Maybe the people will love you because you decided to share your talent. Maybe you’ll fall in love with a place, discover your favorite food, turn strangers into best friends, maybe he may not be the wrong guy after all.

I know these “maybe’s” are not certain, but so are the other hesitations you have that scare you into not doing what you want to do. Obviously, I’m not saying that you should just do these things to call yourself fearless. I simply meant the things you’ve always really wanted to do, but prevented yourself because of reasons you can’t even remember.

Of course there will always be risks, but the positive outcomes usually make you believe that the risks were worth it. If you think you can’t do it on your own, do it with someone who is just as scared. You’ll realize towards the end that you are both pushing yourself to do it, and at the same time gathering the courage from each other.

The best kinds of fears are the ones that you conquered. Some of these take a while, some, you would need a support group or person for. But definitely overcoming your fears slowly will make you realize how tiny your worries were in the first place. It will make you a happier person in general, and that kind of happiness extends to other people as well.

I’m going to start making a list, and I’ll slowly be crossing off things in this list. Maybe you should too…

Fashion Wednesdays: Bikinis for your Body Shapes

Tomorrow, I’m going to the beach.

And I’m not exactly sure about the internet connection from there, but whatever. Beach trips, are like those “one-with-the-nature” kind of trips anyway, so I’m probably gonna be out (with nature) a lot. But since it’s still Wednesday, and I have a Fashion Blog to post, let me share with you the different types of body shapes, and how to choose beach wear for them. I had a hard time preparing myself for that ultimate beach-body before this trip. It involved a lot of lifting (the remote) and pulling (the popcorn bowl closer to me.) What can I say? You need to exert a lot of effort to get THAT body you so badly want. But most people, myself included, are not so lucky with getting the body type they wish to have, so instead, they learn how to maximize their assets on the body that they DO have. Image

For Triangle Shape (Pear Shaped):

If you are bigger on the bottom, don’t wear something that would make it look like your thighs were cut in the wrong place. Bikinis with higher cut bottoms never fail!

For Inverted Triangle Shape:

You’re sure to have broad shoulders, show them off with a bandeau top! Having no symmetry between the top part and the lower part of your body means it wouldn’t matter if your top and bottom pairs are not exactly, pairs! It’s more fun to mix and match and be creative. Or, a high waist bikini can do the trick!

For Rectangle Shape:

My Fellow, Flat-chested Friends, stuffing your bra just wont work in the beach! Focus on just making an illusion that you have the body that Victoria’s Secret Angels would cry for by wearing tops with ruffled designs, and shapely details. Trust me, these  days, everything can pass off as what you want it to be.

For Hour-Glass Shape:

You lucky bitch. You can pretty much wear anything you want and pull it off. You can even go naked for all I care.

For Diamond Shape:

Create a defined waistline with details like belts, etc. Dark tops and light bottoms always create a sort of divide between the upper and lower part of your body, people will forget to look at the middle!

For Rounded Shape:

You don’t exactly have to cover yourself all over. They key to hiding your belly is distraction. Distract them from checking out your body center by wearing graphic or floral printed one piece suits. Also, try ones with details in the waistline to fake abs, bright colors usually work best. 😉

Five Witches You Meet in School.

WOW, my third already? November is kinda going too fast for me. Here we go.

Favorite Series: American Horror Story (Coven)

Honestly, this show is AAAAMAZING. I’m probably being a little bit biased because I really loved the first season, but honestly, after falling in love with the first one, I can’t simply hate the next others. Coven is the third season; so much different from the first two preceeding seasons. The only thing they have the same is the cast. Each season is a new story all together, and I love this one because it’s a bout a coven of witches.

Plus, Jessica Lange has honestly become one of  my favorite actresses because of this show.

Movie of the Week: for the life of me I can’t think of any movie I’ve seen this week.

Book I’m currently reading: The Five People You Meet in Heaven by Mitch Albom

Honestly, it’s so embarassing to not have read any book for the past two weeks, it makes me feel  like I’m showing you guys how much I am not a smart person. Thankfully, I’ve recently read this book, I know it’s old but I really loved it. It’s the kind of book you read in one sitting, and feel light afterwards. Luckily this was the book I read in public and not the “Tuesdays with Morrie” one because I honestly don’t think crying in public with your snot everywhere could ever be attractive at all.

Hotties of the Week: Erika Linder & ERIKA LINDER

Favorite Youtuber: Caspar Lee

Ladies and gentlemen, Meet Caspar Lee: the male version of me.

The UK should stop it with all these pretty boys being around each other so much.
P.S. Finn, I’m not sure how I feel about you kissing Caspar, I think instead of feeling jealous, I sorta could just stare at you pucker up all day.

Playlist: + by Ed Sheeran

Dear Ed Sheeran, when will you make another album? I swear, you shouldn’t let that talent go to waste. Why are you opening for Taylor Swift when you can have a world tour of your own? I can’t stop listening to Kiss Me and Wake Me Up.

 Last-Song-Syndrome: Royals by Lorde

I can’t stop replaying this song.

And this girl is fucking gorgeous!

Fashion Wednesdays: Let’s talk about Preppy Boys.

This is not just because I am in love with Francisco, but because preppy boys in general are just so fun to watch.

I sure wouldn’t mind waking up to this every morning.

(Warning: This post may be biased towards female readers, you may pee your pants.)

There’s just something so attractive about boys who know what kind of shoes go with the clothes they’re wearing. I’m not specifically talking about brands, but just how they dress, or simply just the way they present themselves. Confidence is a definite plus.

Boys are finally somehow open to the idea of “dressing up.” They put in effort whenever they go shopping and they don’t call it “gay” anymore. It didn’t even matter in the first place because gay guys usually have a great sense of style.

Now there are straight guys on lookbook showing off their fashion statements, and oh boy, what a sight! It honestly doesn’t matter if these guys are not at all that handsome, because just the way they carry their clothes makes you want to stare at them all day.

Finally the goth, and emo trend has gone obsolete, and boys are starting to learn what looks better on them. Girls, now is the right time to thank God for your vision, without which, you wouldn’t be able to appreciate this photo set.

tumblr_mvw21m2gj21r7ttu8o1_500I’m sorry, I had to. Everyone I know, is aware about the massive crush I have on Francisco. Male models are my weakness. I could just stare at his face all day and think:

The original hotel room party with Jack and Finn.

It’s time for this week’s MONDAY HIT LIST again! I hope you enjoy this list!

Favorite Series: The Originals

I can’t help myself every time I watch The Originals. They are my favorite set of TV siblings: Brutal, Despicable, and GORGEOUS! Every single one of them! Unfortunately however, they are not complete, but it doesn’t matter that much. Klaus’ badass-ness can make up for the loss of Kol and Finn in The Vampire Diaries.

The Originals are a spin-off series from TVD, and honestly, it’s outperforming the fifth season of The Vampire Diaries. Both shows have got the most attractive set of cast you could ever have, but every twist in The Originals is just so awesome!

I’m sorry Damon. There’s just too much brotherly drama between you and Stefan. Check out how Elijah and Klaus handles things, this is why they are THE originals.

Also, I’m waiting for Cariba Heine to make an appearance, so my favorite trio of Australian mermaids will be complete again. This time as a vampire, werewolf, and, I don’t know, anything! Just bring her to The Originals, PLEASE!

Movie of the Week: Epic

This movie was soooo cute! It reminded me of the time that I was so obsessed with Thumbelina just because I wanted to be super tiny and fit in my Barbie’s clothes and house. Epic had one of the most amazing “backyard” adventures, and it also had the prettiest animated cast ever!

Book I’m currently reading: n/a

Hotties of the Week: Evan Peters & Jourdan Dunn

Who could’ve known that the geek from the movies Sleepover and Kick-Ass would grow up to be an amazing actor and one of the guys in my top ten to-bone-list? Pardon my language, but Evan Peters, you are mighty fiiiiine.

1075689_486065354809959_1927276597_nMr. and Mrs. Dunn had a job well DONE creating a mix of their genes, because they created this bronze, 6’1″ goddess in the form of Ford Supermodel Jourdan.

Honestly, this woman already has a kid, and she’s still so sexy! How can she manage to do that??

 Favorite Youtuber: Troye Sivan

If it’s not so obvious yet with a lot of the gifs I use in this blog, I’m going to let you know. I am in love with Troye Sivan. I don’t care if he’s gay (he recently just came out) I still love him. And even if he’s not going to be into me romantically, I’d still want him to be one of my best friends. Stars? It’s time for you to align for me now please?

Playlist: Ceremonials by Florence and the Machine

I already had this in my iPod for a long time, but I recently just (accidentally) fell SUPER IN LOVE with it when I went driving on my own last Saturday night to pick up my sister. The roads were clear, my windows were down, with the wind blowing my hair, and “Bedroom Hymns” came on, while I parked swiftly in front of a group of guys. I honestly felt so sexy in that moment.

Last-Song-Syndrome: Get Lucky by Daft Punk

Saturday morning, after our (slightly) crazy hotel room party, I woke up and watched a 10-minute video clip on my laptop of me and my friends trying to catch marshmallows in our mouths while getting drunk on rum and 7Up. A remix of this song was playing in the background, and since then, I can’t get it out of my head. Good times, good times.

Thursday Throwbacks: Cartoons that should come back.

Remember those days when you used to wake up early in the morning, and the first thing you’d do is turn on your television?

You wouldn’t even bother to brush your teeth, or greet your mom “Good Morning” because there’s nothing  more important than knowing what happens in the life of Madeline.

Watching Cartoon Network and Nickelodeon was what I did on a daily basis even until I was in high school. It probably is the reason why I have such a crazy imagination. I mean, growing up thinking that parents can give birth to a cow and a chicken, or that you can have the power to stop a crazy monkey, if you were made of everything nice can do wonders to your brain.

Re-watching old cartoons in the internet is my guilty pleasure. You can test me on the names of all the kids in Hey Arnold and make me recite the whole OBB to The Wild Thornberries, and I’d be able to do that.

For this Thursday, let’s travel back to a time when I wasn’t even four-feet tall, and I had my thumb stuck to my mouth all the time (awkward visuals, I’m sorry) and think about the life choices we’ve made that were influenced by the cartoons we used to watch.

tumblr_inline_mvpcyio7D51qkxnah I am a hundred percent sure that when I was just a baby, and incapable of speaking the human language, I had full conversations with my baby friends, and complete understanding of what was happening around me. Also, I had complete adventures including a reptar car and a plastic screw driver. I only grew older, and forgot that stage of my life, damn.
tumblr_mvnfsebGjB1sdmnkco1_500I feel you, Chuckie.

Powerpuff Girls

Being three girls in the family, you’re bound to be drawn to stories with three sisters as well. You each pick which ones you’d be and there’s usually no debating that. Your older sister would be the responsible leader, your younger sister would be the adorable favorite, and being the middle child, you’re the one with the temper problem.

Dexter’s Laboratory

When I was younger, I keep on pressing random buttons around the house hoping my secret laboratory would pop up anytime soon. Dexter was my inspiration on how my very first dream career was to be a scientist. My mom fully supported that dream, even bought me “My Little Scientist’s Kit” complete with a microscope and all.

Plus, I totally understand the ANNOYING-SISTER problem he faces everyday.

Hey! Arnold

I loved watching Hey Arnold because I could relate to him growing up with his grandparents, and being surrounded by awesome friends. Also his room with a glass-roof was my childhood dream-room.

Helga Pataki was the girl who taught me how to keep my feelings towards my childhood crushes hidden. Because of her, I have mastered the art of the POKERFACE.

Recess taught me that no matter how much differences you have with other people, they can still be the best friends you could ever have.tumblr_marxfki6Jd1rbqqfoo1_500

Kim Possible

There’s no other cooler female role model than Kim Possible. She’s a high school spy that has the coolest gadgets in the world! Plus, I did have serious butterflies when her and Ron finally got together.

Scooby Doo

The Wild Thornberries

The Thornberrys are the coolest family ever. They’re part of the reason why I crave for adventures in rainforests and jungles. They are also the reason why I promised myself that I will drive and live in an RV (for a year, maybe) when I grow up.

Courage the Cowardly Dog

This cartoon almost never made it to the list because it had the most disturbing scenes I’ve ever seen in my childhood. But, it also left the most important quote that I’d always usually say:

Gizel the cartoon lover.

Fashion Wednesdays: Why I love stripes, but would never wear it.

It’s my first day back!

As grueling as it feels, I had to return to school today, because I made a promise to my mom that the “gap year” stint I decided on, will be just that– a year. And since I’ve already reached the end of twelve months, I had to enroll, and go back.

Hello again school.

It’s funny that my Wednesday posts are supposed to be a bout fashion, and my very first day back is a Wednesday. In our university, Wednesdays are considered, “Expression Day” however the students would interpret that.

Basically, expression days or civilian days, are the only days you can get to wear other clothes (within university rules, of course). On the other days of the week, you’re all basically in the same school corporate uniform which feels like a strait-jacket for a non-conformist like me.

TGFW. Thank God For Wednesdays.

Today, I’ve seen a lot of people with different styles, from the classy but elegant, simple casual, odd color-matching, and even the most ridiculous fashion senses. Wednesdays are a breath of fresh air.

But I didn’t wear anything blog-worthy today. Unless you’d think, pairing jeans and my grandmother’s old blouse deserve a 5000-word essay then I’d gladly describe to you each shade of peach I’m wearing.

Today I will talk about stripes, and how much I love it.

I wish I wore stripes today, but I am feeling so conflicted about it, so I’ll just be crying about that.

Lately I’ve been so obsessed with stripes, specifically horizontals.

Screen shot 2013-11-06 at 8.19.15 PM

Screen shot 2013-11-06 at 8.18.13 PM

I’ve always wanted to buy horizontal striped leggings, ever since the first time I saw Kimbra wearing it on YouTube. Damn, that girl’s ass can rock any pair of leggings! I’d also always feel bad whenever I see blackmilk clothing releasing a new set of leggings that are striped horizontals, but I never really knew where I could get a pair, preferably cheaper, and from my country.

But after more than a year of hoping it will be sold in the Philippines, BOOM! Printed jeans and leggings became all the rage. A lot of stripped jeans and leggings were coming out. Suddenly the trend is slowly being copied by fake brands and sold in cheap prices, just what I wanted, but along with the availability of my “dream pants” came the hoards of people who were also wearing it.

So that’s how my love story with the striped-leggings ended. I’d still like to wear it, but because it became a trend, I’m pretty sure it will eventually become obsolete. Instead of being a classic in your closet, it will just be like one of those “passing trends” that you’d only get to wear for a certain period in time.
